A new achievement by EC's labs is to
obtain UKAS International Certificate & ISO/IEC 17025 Certificate
As EC realizes wild competition into
international markets, inaccessible unless with high performance,
specially after it was awarded ISO 9001 certificate in 1997, and to
maintain its distinctiveness & to conform with contemporary
variables of international quality standards, EC was required to
upgrade its laboratories to meet high competitive requirements in
order for their quality analyses results be trustable. This can be
attributed to the fact that labs provide reflection about quality
for the company.
In early 2003, EC labs were
conformity with Egyptian Standards only, yet to be internationally
accredited it have to be complying with international standards,
i.e.
ASTM: American Standard for
Testing & Materials.
USP: United States Pharmacopoeia
BP: British Pharmacopoeia
ISO: International Standardization
Organization
Thereupon, EC seeks to be awarded ISO
17025 Certificate for labs by UKAS. One measure taken for being
awarded such a certificate was to verify the qualifications of all
engineers and chemists in charge of testing and making analyses, and
to review special training courses attended by them in different
fields related to assessment.
This accreditation resulted in
the following:-

EC labs
results are accepted in the international arbitration.
2-
EC export
shipment analyses are acknowledged internationally.
3-
EC labs carry
out analyses for other entities.
EC laboratory is the first leading
lab in the Middle East & Africa, since only twelve (12) labs all
over the world were awarded such
a certificate. Moreover, EC lab is the second leading lab world
wide, at the time being awarded such a certificate, in the fields of
packaging, wrapping, costs and materials for tobacco industry.
